How Per-Seat Pricing Works
A detailed explanation of how Strova counts seats, calculates charges, and handles mid-cycle member changes.
Strova charges per active member per month. Here's exactly how that works in practice.
Counting Your Seats
Your seat count equals the number of active, non-readonly members in your organization at any point in time.
Included in seat count:
- Full members (Owner, Admin, Member roles) who can submit daily updates
Not included:
- Readonly members (Business plan)
- Pending invitations (not yet accepted)
- Deactivated members
Prorated Charges
Strova doesn't wait until your next billing cycle to adjust for member changes — charges and credits are prorated to the day.
Adding a Member
When a new member joins (accepts an invitation), a prorated charge is immediately applied for the days remaining in your current billing period.
Example: You're on a $5/seat Business plan billed monthly on the 1st. A member joins on the 20th. You're charged $5 × (11 days / 31 days) = ~$1.77 immediately. Starting next month, they're included in the full monthly charge.
Removing a Member
When you remove a member, a prorated credit is applied for the unused days. The credit is applied to your next invoice.
Converting Member ↔ Readonly
Converting a full member to readonly frees a seat (prorated credit). Converting a readonly back to full adds a seat (prorated charge).
Viewing Your Current Seat Count
Your live seat count and estimated next invoice are always visible in Settings → Billing.
Annual Billing and Prorations
On an annual plan, prorations work the same way but credits accumulate as an account balance applied to your renewal. If you add significant members mid-year and later remove them, the net credits roll forward.
