Assigning a Team Lead
How to assign and change team leads, and what additional capabilities leads have within their team.
Team leads have elevated permissions within their team — they can manage schedule settings, mark members on leave, and access full team reporting.
Assigning a Team Lead
- Go to Team Management → Teams.
- Click the team to open its settings.
- In the Members list, find the person you want to make a lead.
- Click their role dropdown and select Team Lead.
The change takes effect immediately. The new lead will see additional controls on the DSM Board and in team settings on their next page visit.
Multiple Team Leads
A team can have more than one lead. All leads share the same permissions within the team — there's no hierarchy between leads. This is useful for large teams or when you want to split coverage across timezones.

Removing a Team Lead
To demote a lead back to a regular member:
- Go to Team Management → Teams → [Team Name].
- Click the lead's role dropdown.
- Select Member.
The person remains on the team — they just lose the lead permissions.
Org-Level Access vs. Team Lead
Team leads only have elevated permissions within their assigned team. They cannot access other teams' data or manage org-level settings. For broader access, they would need to be promoted to Admin — see Understanding roles.
