Marking Members as On Leave
How team leads can mark team members as on leave for a day so they're excluded from standup expectations.
Team leads can mark any team member as on leave for a specific day. This removes the member from the "Pending" section of the DSM Board and excludes them from coverage calculations for that day.
Who Can Mark On Leave?
- Team leads can mark members on their own team
- Admins and Owners can mark any member on any team
Regular members cannot mark themselves or others as on leave.
How to Mark a Member On Leave
- Go to the DSM Board for the relevant date.
- Find the member in the Pending section.
- Click the ... menu (or right-click) on their name.
- Select Mark as On Leave.
The member immediately moves from the Pending section to the On Leave section for that day.
How to Undo On Leave
- Find the member in the On Leave section of the board.
- Click the ... menu on their name.
- Select Remove On Leave.
They move back to Pending. If they've already submitted an update, they'll appear in the Posted section.
How On Leave Affects Scores
- The day is excluded from timeliness scoring — it doesn't count as late or missing
- The day is excluded from coverage calculations on the coverage calendar
- The on-leave marker appears in the member's submission history
Planning Ahead
On leave can be marked for any date — past, present, or future. Team leads often mark upcoming leaves in advance so the board reflects reality without teammates assuming someone is just late.
